by Jan Allred
The Alabama Department of Forensic Science has released the autopsy report of Michael McLendon, the 27-year-old man who gunned down 10 people in Geneva and Coffee counties last month. The shooting was the deadliest mass murder in Alabama history.
The autopsy report also showed that McLendon had no drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the shootings and that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
McLendon went on a shooting rampage that left ten people dead before he turned the gun on himself and took his own life. He began in Kinston, AL by killing his mother and the family dogs, then setting their house on fire. He then headed for his uncle’s home in Samson, AL where he continued killing five members
of his own family and five innocent bystanders.
The rampage ended at Reliable
Products in Geneva, AL, where McLendon had previously been employed. Following a shootout with police, he turned the gun on himself.
